Act quickly to keep reign on college loans

Business columnist Susan Tompor urges college graduates who have federally-backed student loans to consolidate them in order to lock in the rate of interest before July 1, when rates could rise by 1.5 - 2 percentage points. "Students who move quickly can consolidate under the old, lower rates and save thousands of dollars over the life of the loan," Tompor writes.
